An exquisite 19th century mahogany Empire scroll end sofa. The serpentine back with central fantail decoration flanked by nicely proportioned scrolling arms. Beautifully carved acanthus leaf decoration adorns the arm fronts which gently sweeps down into the lower frame which again has a central fantail motif. The whole standing on the most attractive legs I have seen in a long time, of cabriole form with large heavily carved lion paw feet. The knee section with scroll and feathered wing decoration. The cream silk damask is in very good condition and the sofa has a good quality seat cushion with a pair of bolster cushions to match. Seat height is 48cm. Would suit a modern or period interior but wherever this lands it will most certainly make a great statement piece.
