A charming mid-19th century Oil Painting on panel, depicting a gentleman, dressed in a brown velvet coat and breeches, smoking a long ‘churchwarden’ pipe, with a decanter and glass of port on a table beside him, his leg resting on a Chippendale dining chair.

Clearly enjoying the “Good Life”!

In the background is a Regency convex mirror and a Chippendale cabinet with ornate gilt handles behind him. Signed D. Porter lower left.. 15ins x 12ins including the good moulded frame.

** Interestingly there is an additional painting on the back of the wood panel: a partly finished portrait of an attractive young lady (see additional image).
