Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These stools were crafted during the 19th century, often incorporating earlier Queen Anne or Georgian revival design elements such as cabriole legs and shell carvings. Designed as low seating for vanity tables, they feature padded tops for functional use during daily grooming.

Cabinetmakers typically used solid walnut timber with traditional joinery, including mortise and tenon joints. The upholstered tops were traditionally built using natural webbing, horsehair or wool padding, and secured to the frame with brass upholstery tacks.

Authentic pieces display subtle hand-carving irregularities, genuine timber patination, and age-related oxidation on the underside frame. Look for traditional joinery marks, hand-shaped leg silhouettes, and period-correct leg profiles like cabriole legs terminating in pad feet.

Position the stool at the foot of a bed, beneath a hall console table, or alongside a contemporary dressing table. Upholstering the top in a neutral linen or textured fabric allows the rich walnut tone to integrate with modern colour schemes.

Clean the polished walnut legs with a dry lint-free cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice yearly to preserve the finish. Gently vacuum the fabric seat with a soft brush attachment, keeping the piece away from radiators and direct sunlight to avoid timber movement.
