Cast bronze figure of the god Osiris standing holding the crook and flail; agricultural implements indicating Osiris''s very ancient origins, wearing the atef crown fronted by a Uraeus serpent.
Old display mounted, firmly fitted (apparently by the tang) to an ebonised turned wood sockel base.
Osiris ruled the underworld; he was god of the dead but also a god of resurrection and fertility.
Damage to the crown, details quite worn in places but essentially distinct, the bronze with green and brown patina, in sound stable condition.
Late Period, circa 664-32 BC.
Height of figure excluding base 4,5/8'' or 117mm,
total height 6,3/4'' or 173mm.
total weight 252 grams.
