Description

Description: - A George IV 18ct yellow gold and black enamel memorial mourning ring, with original ring box. The band reads "IN MEMORY OF" within gold foliate and rope-work border; and is inscribed to the interior "J.Ward died 17 Apr', 1830 aged 65". The ring is hallmarked with London marks, 1829, the makers mark "I.V", and "18" to denote 18 karat (carat) gold. The ring comes with its original ring box.
Date: - 1829.
Period: - Early 19th Century.
Engraving: - "J.Ward died 17 Apr', 1830 aged 65".
Measurement: - UK ring size R measured to the leading edge. US ring size 8 5/8 measured to the leading edge. The band measures 9.5mm in width. The ring measures approximately 21.8mm in diameter.
Weight: - 7.9 grams.
Condition: - The band and the enamel on the ring are both in good condition, displaying minor surface scratches commensurate with age. Minor scuffing to the antique ring box. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
