Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The desk has a cylinder front which slides back to reveal a pull out writing slide as well as an assortment of pigeon holes and a small central drawer. The tooled leather writing surface lifts up to reveal a secret compartment for letters etc. The desk has all of its original handles and stands on fine tapered legs with its original castors.
