Art Deco Silver and Guilloche Enamel Letter Opener by Mappin & Webb, London 1828

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a very elegant solid silver and guilloche enamel letter opener or paper knife. The handle with pale blue engine-turned guilloche enamel on both sides. Mounted with the original stainless steel blade. It is a good size, measuring over 9 inches long, and is very tactile and pleasing to use.

Hallmarks:

M&W for Mappin & Webb.

London Assay mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letters "n" for 1928.

Condition:

Very good.

Enamel in very good condition on both sides.

Maker's marks partially erased but identifiable to an expert eye.

Dimensions and weight:

Length: 24cm / 9.4 inches.

Maximum width: 2.5cm / 1 inch.
