Description

This striking silk ikat panel has the 'wow' factor. Vertical stripes with repeating stylised botehs in three colours, white fuchsia and yellow. Lined with an original printed Russian chintz from the same period. This piece would make a wonderful wall hanging, bed cover or table cover. All natural dyes. Generally good condition. Professionally cleaned.

An antique Uzbek silk ikat, traditionally known as abrbandi or cloud-binding, is a handwoven textile produced in Central Asia during the nineteenth century, characterised by resist-dyed silk threads woven to create distinct feathered geometric or botanical motifs.

These textiles were crafted using warp-ikat techniques where silk warp threads were tightly bound and resist-dyed multiple times prior to weaving on narrow looms, resulting in pieced panels stitched together to form broader hangings.
