~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

A superb original antique French Rococo clock. It is heavily and boldly modelled in ormolu (finely gilded bronze) with deeply scrolling acanthus and surmounted by a bouquet of flowers. Beautifully finished with contrasting polished and matted surfaces. The integral base is polished to allow a reflection of the pendulum gently swinging to be seen.

Panels backed with red fabric lighten the design to each side. The dial is porcelain enamel on copper with finely fretted gilt brass hands.

The French movement is of high quality and is by A. D. Mougin. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. We have replaced the red fabric with fresh.

A D Mougin clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
