This etching provides us with a lively view of Church Street Kensington in the early 20th century. We can see Kemmish the fishmonger and the Shepherds Bush Palace.

This is a trial proof for the artist aside from the limited edition of 40.

Mary Tremel was born in Bradford Yorkshire. She studied at Goldsmiths College London followed by the Royal College of Art. where she learned engraving and printmaking under Sir Frank Short RA.
She becameof the early 20th century revival of interest in etching and wood-engraving. She was invited to exhibit at the First International Exhibition of Etching at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Tremel lived in Barnes, West London from around 1907 until the mid-1920s. However, by the 1930s she had relocated to the Kentish countryside near Sevenoaks.

She exhibited: Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Royal Society of Artists Birmingham.

The etching is in good condition.
It is presented in a new black textured wooden frame and conservation mount with a gilt inner strip. All in good condition.,
