Georgian Mahogany Longcase Clock. Circa 1775

Description

Magnificent George III highly figured mahogany cased grandfather clock with 8 day striking and rolling moon movement by Robert Lough of Penrith (ac 1770-85), one of a family of clockmakers. The case in superb un-touched original condition with no repairs. The fine quality movement recently fully overhauled and in perfect working order.A most unusual feature is the sweep date hand with date numerals around inside of chapter ring. The case a wonderful rich colour with great waxed patina. A splendid example of its kind.

Size; 94" high, 20" wide at hood, 10" deep at hood.
