John Howkins Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The rectangular shaped top having canted corners with brass edging and a replaced tooled black leather writing surface. To one side are the graduated drawers with ormolu mounts and working locks with key. The reverse having stunning ormolu panels with musical instruments, drapes and organ pipes. The lower frieze with inlaid brass name of “HENRY A PARIS”. The desk is raised on ebonised lion’s paw feet and the whole is in very good condition. Dimensions:- Height…32.25’’/82.5cm. Width…54.5’’/ 138.5cm. Depth…24.75’’/ 63cm. Kneehole Height…26’’/ 66cm. Joseph Henry is considered to be one of the world’s finest bow makers and his bows are very rare and much sought after today.
