Antique Georgian Solid Silver Sugar Basin Bowl

19th century
Description

A fine example of a Georgian solid silver twin handled sugar basin. It is a stylish piece with pretty engraved detailing and square angular handles. It is good quality with a gilt interior and it weighs approximately 279g.

It is clearly hallmarked for Charles Fox, London, 1804.

It is in good condition for its age. There has been some small old solder repairs on what were presumably small splits in the creases of the design (see photos) and there would have been family crests either side in the garland which have been polished off and possibly silver soldered over. It is difficult to spot and doesn't really detract from the piece given its age. There are some faint surface marks and minor signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. The gilt interior is still bright and it has been gently cleaned and polished and displays beautifully.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask.

Tracked UK Delivery £7, rest of the world £20.
