Description
A fine Louis Philippe gilt bronze mantel clock by Henri Marc, the arched top surmounted by a confection of doves, floral wreaths, arrows and clouds in bright and matted gilding over the beaded bezel door to the white enamel dial with Roman numerals in blue and outer minute track with Arabic five minute markers, pierced gilt hands and brocot adjustment above, with swags of roses to the sides and over a spreading plinth with a vignette with a putto within, a navy blue inset and on lobed compressed feet. The eight day two train silk suspension movement with a glazed door, with a pendulum and outer count wheel and striking the hours and half hours on a bronze bell. French circa 1845. Condition: Excellent. The case retains its original two tone gilding (bright and matt), all the decorative elements are present and the gilding is excellent. There are two small cracks to the dial at around five o’clock. The clock has been fully serviced and overhauled, and is in full working condition.
