W.R. Harvey & Co. (Antiques) Ltd has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
An early 18th.
There is a secret compartment hidden in one of the pigeon holes which bears the inscription “Wagstaff” followed by some further letters and numbers. One of the main drawers bears the initials R W which suggests the piece was once owned by a Robert or Richard Wagstaff.

The interior has a false bottom behind the door which slides to reveal a further secret compartment and the two flanking columns also slide forward to show further secret compartments.
