Description

A rather rare 19th century Comtoise or Morbier Clock in its original pine case
although the movements for these clocks are common, because of the rudimentary pine cases they simply do not survive into old age.
This case is totally untouched and is an absolute pleasure to offer for sale. The clock movements were often made separately in the Morbier region of France ( hence the name) and then shipped to the various regions of France to have the case made locally. This means that the shear difference in styles of cases is large and often left to interpretation in the local fashions and tastes. This case has been painted in a most lovely style and although a little worn in places it is totally untouched. There is wear to the bottom of the case as can be expected from a 150 year old pine case but this simply adds to its character.
The posted movement has been fully overhauled and comes with a full three year guarantee for your peace of mind.
At one time these were the most common types of clocks seen in 19th century France but after such a long time and the type of material used they are now a rare sight.
With over twenty five years experience in restoring and conserving clocks and working on some of the finest and complicated clocks for a select group of the best antique clock dealers in the country.
As well as this, Overton Clocks has now decided to offer our customers the opportunity to purchase fine antique clocks that have been personally selected for their unique or special features. Each clock has been expertly restored to the highest of standards by myself. Overton clocks ensures peace of mind in your investment, by personally offering three years warranty on all of our timepieces.
