Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1860s.
The top of the box incorporates a cotton spool holder / dispenser which contains five wooden cotton reels, the knob on the left hand side comes off to remove the brass rod for refilling with new spools; there is also a velvet covered pin cushion and two stands for a thimble (two thimbles included).
The drawer has been recently relined so nice and clean and ready for use. The drawer is opened using the solid brass knob or handle to the front. The box stands on four turned Mahogany bun feet.
Excellent condition, measuring 10" x 6" x 3 1/4" tall or 7 3/4" tall to top of turned spool holder.
