18th Century Oak Coffer with Cleated Plank Lid

An unusual 18th century oak coffer with cleated plank lid, original iron hoop hinges, decorative fluted quarter pilasters to either side, and single fitted drawer towards the base, standing on tapered feet with fluted detail. The inside of the coffer and the drawer have been painted white at some point in time.

CONDITION REPORT:

Our carpenter inspects, repairs and restores all our items, so you can have full confidence that what you buy from us is home ready!

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age and wear. The exterior is in very good condition with some minor surface wear in places. The interior has considerably more wear and appeared to have been used to store grain etc. Lots of evidence of old historic worm – this is long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution.
