Description

A Devonshire Georgian longcase clock of slim proportions. A mahogany case with a moulded arched hood pediment. Front and rear hood side columns. A arched trunk door and beeded trunk sides. A brass and silvered engraved dial with corner spandrels and strike/silent feature to the arch. A very well engraved silvered dial centre signed 'Henry Hawkinds Plymouth'. Blued steel hands with date and seconds. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Quality feature of brass cased weights.

Henry Hawkins of Plymouth is recorded in Ponsford's 'Devon Clockmakers and Watchmakers' book as working in 1798.
