Description

Splendid early 20th.c. carved oak box settle or hall seat c.1920. High backrest with a lovely carved and pierced detail between the raised tops of the mullions and four beautiful individually carved blind Gothic panels. Over a lift up seat with large decorative iron hinges, opening to reveal lots of useful storage inside for boots blankets etc. Straight arms with chamferred edges and shaped terminals. Panelled base carved with further Gothic detail across the front and linenfold sides. Original iron escutcheon plate and key. Very solidly constructed in solid oak throught. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
