As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this large scale pair of Meiji Period 1868-1912 Satsuma vases by the well recorded and highly regarded artist Ryozan Okamoto , this opposing true pair of vases are decorated in fantastic detail throughout depicting mountainous landscape in the distance with multiple boats a sail and fishermen working away in typical lakeside scenes, families to the foreground amidst pavilions & Pine trees with Bijin and children shading beneath wonderfully decorated Prunus (Cherry blossom)trees , the scenes captured between geometric gilt borders , the shoulders decorated in mixed native Flora beneath gilt rims, each vase signed to the underside by Ryozan Okamoto, these vases have lost none of their beauty despite the larger scale of the decoration, the enamel detail to the trees is as sharp as you would wish, a fine quality and condition pair of vases to decorate your Japanese themed room or as an addition to your ceramic or Japanese works of art collection.
