Rare Silver and Shagreen Circular Box by Samuel Jacob, Lonodn 1912

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a very elegant and beautiful silver mounted shagreen box made by Samuel Jacob of London in 1912. The slightly domed pull-off circular lid opening to reveal a pale gilt interior. The solid silver base is fully hallmarked.

Delicate notch rim to both base and lid.

Silver and Shagreen objects are few and far between and as a result very sought-after. They were the epitome of luxury and elegance in the 1910's and 1920's.

Hallmarks:

SJ for Samuel Jacob

London Assay Mark.

Date letter "r" for 1912.

Lion Passant.

Dimensions:

Diameter: 5.5cm - 2 inches.

Height: 1.5cm - 0. 6 inches.

Condition:

Exvellent.
