Rare, antique French mid 19th century desk seal, circa 1820''s.
Fine silver/silver gilt equestrian model of Napoleon Bonaparte in dynamic leadership pose set on a fine oblong, solid black buffalo horn piquet base.
The initialled seal (LLR), is released from the plinth by pressing the spring catch at the plinth front.
The seal and the plinth both with stamped boars head French silver standard hall marks.
The engraved shell and scroll piquet inlay in silver, copper and gold.
In excellent condition throughout noting one inlaid shell slightly bowed from shrinkage of the horn.
Length 4'' or 100mm, height 2,7/8'' or 74mm.
Weight 272 grams.
