This is a rare late 19th Century short malacca cane carried by a Fisherman or a Gilly with a heavy duty metal hammer or priest for killing a fish with a retractable blade or gaff . The blade is produced by a fast downward motion of the hand where it locks in place, it can then be tapped back and retracts into the cane. It is very well made and in great original condition.
