A stunning, fine and impressive antique Art Deco 3.22 carat hessonite garnet and 1.96 carat diamond, platinum brooch; part of our diverse antique jewellery and estate jewelry collections
This stunning, fine and impressive antique brooch has been crafted in platinum.
The oval, Art Deco design geometric frame is ornamented with a feature round faceted cut hessonite garnet, collet set to either side.
Each impressive garnet is encompassed with seven petal designs, emanating within the oval frame, individually pavé set with an eight cut diamond.
The pierced decorated scrolling design is embellished with a further thirty-four pavé set diamonds, in a combination of Old European and eight-cut.
This diamond and garnet brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and clasp.
The hallmarks to the reverse of the brooch setting include the platinum mark (10% iridium plat) and the maker's mark (Kobrin Bros**).
The brooch is supplied with a independent diamond grading report card.
* A hessonite garnet has gained the nickname 'cinnamon stone' due to its classic orange-brown colouring; however the colouring can range from honey-yellow to brown-red. This gemstone holds historical importance as it used within Vedic astrology, where wearers believe hessonite can bring success and recognition in society, in addition to promoting longevity and good fortune.
** Kobrin Brothers is a fine Manhattan based jewellery firm that closed in 1971. The Latvian born owner, Leo Kobrin, arrived in the United States in 1908 and served in the Navy in World War I.
This stunning antique brooch is exceptional quality, set with impressive hessonite garnets displaying a fine colour, brilliance and presence.
The very high colour graded Old European and eight-cut diamonds display fine white colour, brilliance and presence.
The brooch is an exceptional gauge of platinum and is in excellent condition.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of diamond jewellery/estate jewelry.
