Early C19th French Empire style gilt framed mirror .

Smart gilded frame mirror in untouched original condition. The aged and gently worn gilding having achieved a mellow , soft colour and surface , with traces of the red gesso ground showing through . The Empire design decoration in excellent intact condition with only minor losses.

Sophisticated classically-inspired honeysuckle and roundel design borders and boldly executed anthemion motifs to the corners. The interior slip of moulded lappet or ‘lambs-tongue’ design .

The original mercury silvered plate has attained an atmospheric ageing with foxing and distressing . The silver-grey plate with a subtle shallow hand-bevelled edge .

The reverse fitted with original oak backboards .
