Victorian Iron Framed Button Back Armchair

19th century
Description

A Victorian iron framed armchair, circa 1880, with spoon shaped iron back deep buttoned and with a roll edge, upholstered in green velvet, the sprung seat with serpentine shaped front and raised on bulbous front supports with original brass and porcelain castors.

A very comfortable chair of good proportions, the springs are good and the seat is smooth with no lumps, the fabric is vintage cotton velvet and is serviceable although shows signs of wear, particularly on the arms. There is one button missing from the button back (I can possibly get this replaced). These iron framed armchairs are extremely comfortable, the iron backs have a certain amount of give with aids to their comfort.

I can arrange re-covering with my upholsterer, please contact me for further details.

Please see my other listing for another similar chair in the same upholstery.

Height of back 84cm, the seat measures 64cm across the front, 53m deep and 37cm high.
