Late C19th French patinated bronze ,gilded ormolu and marble Empire design table lamp.
The fluted bronze classical column shaft surmounted with a gilded lotus-flower cap with adjustable height shade-holder above and twin branch bulb-holders.
The tapering architectural column terminating with a cast ormolu ‘laurel leaf ‘ ring onto a stepped block base of highly-figured and striated ‘rouge griotte’ marble with applied panels of intricately cast of gilded ormolu bronze and a band of cast ‘stiff-leaf’ decoration . The whole raised on compressed ormolu ‘bun’ feet .
Minor historic chips to the marble base .
Has been rewired and tested , using traditional style cotton-covered flex with an online switch .
A highly decorative classically-inspired table lamp of good scale and proportions.
