Large Antique English Sterling Silver Trinket Box - Birmingham 1905

Description

A stunning and quite beautiful English sterling silver box with all over pretty repousse decoration with a vacant cartouche to the top which could be personalised if desired.

The inside is exceptional, beautifully gilded; the lid is hinged, the hinge in perfect working order and the lid fits well. One of the hallmarks can be found to the front of the box for the year 1905, Edwardian in era, and struck in the Birmingham assay office. The silversmith's initials can also be found amongst the decoration, J & C for Jones & Crompton -Edward Samuel Jones & Hubert Crompton.

Excellent condition, measuring 5 3/8" x 2" x 1 1/4" tall to top of domed lid.
