Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
It has a two circular holes to the bottom covered with a loose oak shelf, presumably where speakers would have been, being used as a music cabinet at some point. With wonderful colour and patina to the oak this is a really useful size and makes great TV cupboard or music/drinks cabinet.
