Antique Scottish Mauchline Ware Playing Card Box - Campbeltown Bay

Description

A handsome Mauchlineware playing card box made for two decks of cards. The town of Mauchline in South West Scotland gives its name to a family of wooden souvenirs made over a period of some one hundred years ending when the factory of the last producer still operating burnt to the ground in 1933. This box would certainly be a Victorian example and dating to around 1880.

The top has a highly decorative scene of Campbeltown Bay in Scotland. The interior retains it's central divider and comes complete with two new packs of playing cards.

Excellent condition, measuring 4 3/8" x 2 1/2" x 3 1/8" tall.
