Antique Longcase Clock

Description

An early, ebonised longcase clock. A flat moulded hood pediment with gilded hood column capitals. A slim case of good proportions. A well engraved brass and silvered dial with ringed winding holes. Fine blued steel hands. A date aperture and seconds dial. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Brass cased weights.

James Green of Gloucester is recorded in Dowlers' Gloucestershire Clock and Watchmakers' book as working from circa 1721 to 1757. A fine quality 8-day longcase clock is noted in the book.
