Early C19th George IV period mahogany floor-standing 2-door bookcase.

Smart mahogany bookcase with original gilded brass-wire mesh grill doors of elaborate ovoid design . The ebony-mounted moulded cornice with gilded brass rose ‘boss’ mounts , surmounted with a well-executed simulated or painted green faux marble ‘slab’ , with refreshed finish .

The doors fitted with a lock and working key , separated by a reeded brass dividing strip , enclosing an interior with 3 adjustable shelves .

The base with an applied mouldIng raised on compressed turned bun feet . Original panelled back-boards

A decorative bookcase of practical scale and elegant proportions. Good rich colour and patina with quality well-figured ‘flame’ veneers throughout.
