Scottish George III Mahogany World Time Longcase Clock Circa 1760

Description

Very fine and rare Scottish George III figured solid cuban mahogany world time grandfather or longcase clock with 8 day striking movement by Roger Parkinson of Canongate (Edinburgh). The engraved silvered dial showing times around dial at different places around the world, mainly places with trading connection with Scotland in the 18th. century. This is only the second one I have seen in 50 years of trading. The case in superb un-touched original condition, wonderful colour with great waxed patina. the movement has just been overhauled and is in perfect working order. A truely rare and striking. clock. Roger Parkinson is recorded working in Edinburgh from circa 1750-70.

Size; 87" high, 19" wide at hood, 10" deep at hood.
