In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
It was reputedly purchased from the Saltram House Estate in Plymouth in the mid 20th century from an estate sale before it was passed to the National Trust. There are old carved initials "J.P" in the top. The Parker family owned Saltram until it was passed to the national trust and from the early 1700s to the mid 1800s each generation was called "John Parker".
It is in good condition throughout and displays beautifully. It is not without some signs of age and use and minor stains and marks but this has all helped to develop a beautiful rich patina over the years. It has been well maintained and as such there have been some historical repairs over the years, particularly to note are repairs to the bottom of the feet where they have worn over the years. The drawers are generally clean and tidy inside and open well. One has had new oak linings. The handles have been changed at some point but they suit the dresser well. It has been given a thorough clean and light wax and polish and is ready for the home.
