Empire Mahogany Escritoire. Circa 1810

Description

Stunning quality first Empire highly figured mahogany escritoire with mirror paneled fall front revealing fully fitted interior with mirror back and having secret drawers under side columns. The base fitted with frieze drawer and supported at front with column legs onto shaped platform base and ball feet. Mirror panel to back of base. All enriched with top quality original ormolu mounts and escutcheons. Original gilded topped key. All in superb un-touched original condition with hardly a blemish. Fabulous rich colour with fine waxed patina. Probably German or possibly Russian. A wonderful piece of Empire furniture.

Size; 55.5" high, 37" wide, 18" deep (closed). Writing surface 29" high.
