Description

A real stunner of a box dating to the mid-nineteenth century, Victorian in era. Made from expensive and exotic Rosewood with it's beautiful colouring and wood grain.

The box is highly decorated with intricate Mother of Pearl, which in turn has been engraved to give it a three dimensional quality. It is interspersed with sumptuous large scrolls of fine silver or pewter stringing.

The box would make a wonderful jewellery box or perfect on the desk-top ... or a real joy just to look at. The interior has been professionally re-lined with an attractive hand-marbled paper, so it's nice and clean and perfectly ready for use.

Excellent condition with no loss to inlay and complete with a working tasseled key. 9" x 7" x 3 3/4" tall.
