Description

An interesting Victorian Horae Sacrae - a book of prayers and meditations for private use - published in 1881. Leather bound with gilt tooling on the spine and covers with a cross in relief on front and back. The covers are lined with thick marbled paper. It is edged in fine brass, with a decorative brass clip lock and finger plates front and back. The pages are also embellished with a gilt wavy edge.

Inside there is an Introduction by the Vicar of Witley, a List of Authors (including Dr Samuel Johnson) and the Various writings are listed on the Contents page (See photo). Some pages bear small illustrations of cherubs and similar subjects.
