In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Below the writing surface are two storage compartments. There is also a long partly fitted drawer on the side of the box which pulls out when a brass pin is lifted. The box comes with its original working key.
It is in excellent condition for its age and has been sympathetically restored. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and it displays very well inside and out. There are no major damages to the wood exterior, just some small knocks and minor signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. It is clean and tidy inside and the patination is beautiful.
