Corvidae Antique has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The head is solid 15-carat gold of a rich slightly rosy hue, with the pin itself rendered in steel.

Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and as this fineness was generally used in high quality pieces, it is attractive to collectors.
Marked 15CT.
Size: 5cm (2 inches) long. The head measures 1.1 x 0.6cm.
Weight: 1.6g.
