Rare early 19th Century East India (John) Company ivory rooks, probably Berhampore, one representing the East Indian Company with dark brown stained base the other representing Indian troops with natural bases.
Modelled as castle watchtowers with cannons, the soldiers (missing their flags) on stands with ladder access.
All in excellent condition with minimal loss or wear.
East India “John” Company chess sets derive their title from the nickname of the East India Company, which operated in India until 1874.
