Large Sri Lanka Carved Ivory Jewel Encrusted Elephant Antique

Description

Carved ivory jewel encrusted elephant, Sri Lanka, circa 1900.

Multi coloured Sri Lankan gem stones in siver gilt settings and mounts.

Exceptionally large carving from one piece of ivory.

Length to tips of fitted tusks 6,3/4" or 170mm, height 5" or 125mm, weight 1095 grams.

Would originally have had a howdah mounted on the top,

In very good sound condition with minimal losses to the gems and mounts, comes with three detached pendant gems.
