Description

Superb large marble bust of a woman by the Belgian sculptor Gustave Van Vaerenbergh (1873-1927) c.1910. Head and shoulders length portrait bust of a cheerful looking young woman, wavy hair tied in a slightly unruly bun over her bare neck and shoulders. Beautifully carved from a single block of white marble of considerable weight. With a clear signature at the back amongst the unusual rusticated and uncarved lower section of the block. Excellent condition.
