Whitby Abbey from Pannett Park Gardens –
Rowland Henry Hill ((1873-1952)
Born in Halifax in 1873, he studied at Halifax School of Art, Bradford Technical College and Herkcomer’s School, Bushey, Hertfordshire. He painted in oils and watercolours in many countries as well as in Yorkshire. He was a member of the Staithes Group and a Vice-President of the Yorkshire Union of Artists for many years. He exhibited widely from 1897 to 1940.
