Description

A beautiful late Victorian inkwell made from a hefty piece of English crystal or circular form with the underside intricately hand-cut in the ever-popular hobnail design.

The body of the glass is cased in a pierced or reticulated sterling silver sleeve incorporating a floral design. This casing together with the hinged lid is fully hallmarked for London 1899 together with the makers mark for the well regarded and highly collectable silversmith, William Hutton & Sons Ltd. This piece is also lucky enough to have been stamped with an English design registration mark (always reserved for pieces of more importance), the number relating to the year 1898 when this design would have been registered.

Beautiful undamaged condition with a base diameter measuring 2 5/8" x 3 3/4".
