A good set of FIVE solid bronze MEASURES comprising: “Imperial Gallon”; “Imperial Half Gallon”; “Imperial Quart”; “Imperial Pint” and Imperial “Half-Pint”.

Each is engraved: “Ashton Under Lyne Division; COUNTY of LANCASTER and each is dated 1852. The Gallon measures: 11ins wide across the handles and 7ins high. Priced for the set of five.

** These measures were used by H.M. Customs & Excise Officers, to check that market traders were not under-selling their customers, penalties for which were very harsh indeed!
