A Superb Sterling Silver Mounted Champagne Decanter

A superb silver mounted champagne decanter. This lovely example is of bottle form with an elongated slice cut neck and polished pontil to the base. The cork stopper has a beautifully realised German silver mount featuring a Lion Passant. To the front is of the decanter is an etched leaf pattern which surrounds the words 'Fine Champagne' to the centre. An unusual and appealing item of practical antique tableware. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no dents or splits to the stopper, save one tiny 'bump' to the reverse of the rim. No chips, cracks or clouding to the glass.

Hallmarks :- German half moon, crown, 925 and Maker's mark.

Date :- c1900.

Base diameter :- 7 cms.
