In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The top lifts up to reveal a mirror inside. Below is a fitted and lined tray which lifts out to reveal further storage space below lined in blue silk. The two doors at the front of the box open up to reveal two drawers, both with their original ebonised turned knobs. These are also lined in blue silk.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. The silk linings have been renewed and the handles on the outside have been changed at some point. There are general signs of age and use, some marks and knocks and small old splits around the box but nothing detrimental.
