Description

An atmospheric watercolour of the Venice lagoon with moored trading vessels with the outline of the buildings and churches of Venice in the distance by Frederick James Aldridge (1850-1933), renowned as a painter in oils and watercolour of marine scenes. The painting is signed at lower right “F.J. Aldridge, Venezia”.

In its original gilt frame, behind glass, the picture is in good condition though there is some age-caused streaking apparent in the sky areas.
