Description

A set of French bronzed effect spelter elephant bookends on solid marble bases, from the Art Deco era c1930. The elephants are extremely well modelled, with good detail, and the trunks are raised for holding the books in position. The elephants have a lustrous bronzed finish, though the lustre on one elephant has been slightly more worn away. However, if anything, this adds to the authenticity.

The marble bases have a mottled beige or taupe colour, which complements the subject. They are in very good condition, and are lined underneath with soft smooth paper.

Each elephant and base weighs just under one kilo (800gr).
